The Alzheimer’s Association is offering a free 6-week educational series offering a comprehensive overview of Alzheimer’s and related dementias, as well as tips, strategies, and resources for navigating this complex and often challenging disease. On July 26th, 2017, Justice in Aging will hold SSI mini-trainings on (1) helping people with SSI overpayments and (2) current topics in policy advocacy at the federal, state and local level; a presentation on IHSS hot topics including the 2017-18 California state budget, and the federal efforts to repeal the ACA and fundamentally change Medicaid; and a roundtable discussion of current issues and trends, and how to expand advocacy efforts locally, statewide, and nationally.

On our Information & Assistance (I&A) line in the office, we are often asked about transportation methods for seniors and those with physical and/or mental health disabilities. Most frequently I refer callers to East Bay Paratransit, who provide public transit service for people who are unable to use regular buses or trains due to their disability. Below, we have received updated, additional transportation resources in Alameda County and North County.
