Educational Caregiver Series with On-Site Respite

The Alzheimer’s Association is offering a free 6-week educational series offering a comprehensive overview of Alzheimer’s and related dementias, as well as tips, strategies, and resources for navigating this complex and often challenging disease. Free SSI & IHSS Training by Justice in Aging

On July 26th, 2017, Justice in Aging will hold SSI mini-trainings on (1) helping people with SSI overpayments and (2) current topics in policy advocacy at the federal, state and local level; a presentation on IHSS hot topics including the 2017-18 California state budget, and the federal efforts to repeal the ACA and fundamentally change Medicaid; and a roundtable discussion of current issues and trends, and how to expand advocacy efforts locally, statewide, and nationally.

Educational Series on Elder Care – Oakland

AgeSong in Oakland (3121 Fruitvale Ave.) is hosting a series of educational classes on topics related to caring for elders. Upcoming topics: Hospice, Caring for a loved one with Dementia, and Proper Foot Care.

All presentations are an hour long, and free to attend.

Safe Streets Workshop in Oakland – Free

This weekend, UC Berkeley SafeTREC and California Walks will provide Oakland with a free 4-hour training aimed at building community education and capacity to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety in the community.

Lunch, childcare, English to Spanish interpretation, and English to Chinese interpretation will be available.
